ISMA University (ISMA) is a private higher educational institutions in Latvia. We are proud to be associated with ISMA University in Riga, Latvia. Latvia is in European Union and courses are being taught in English.

In accordance with ISMA Provisions for Admission and Enrollment Assessment, we are enrolling applicants who have successfully completed their intermediate, Graduation or Masters from Pakistan for the semester commencing in February 2018. Our deadline for enrollment is 29 December 2017.

Eligibility:

  • Persons with completed Intermediate, Bachelors or Masters Education,
  • Persons who successfully completed Enrollment Assessment procedure.

ISMA Professional Bachelor’s degree study programme “Business Administration ” and the awarded qualification perfectly complies with the requirements of Cabinet Regulations on the provisions of the state standard of second level professional higher education No 512 from August 26, 2014 and profession standard of enterprise manager/deputy enterprise manager.

Benefits of ISMA Business Administration Programme

Each student has an opportunity of paid traineeship in European companies, as well as to study during 1 or 2 semesters in foreign partner-universities of ISMA in the framework of student mobility programmes.  ISMA also offers traineeship placement at tourism and hospitality enterprises in Latvia. Many ISMA students start professional career while studying.

ISMA gives students an opportunity to develop and implement their business ideas in Business Incubator, with the benefits and support provided to the participants.

B. Business Administration in Tourism

Objectives of the study programme:

  • To provide competitive professional higher education (5thlevel professional qualification, 6th level EKI) in the field of tourism business administration and to prepare tourism specialists with a high potential for productivity both on the Latvian and global labour markets.
  • To give students comprehensive knowledge, practical skills and understanding of the laws of modern economic development, of the role of innovation in entrepreneurial activity, the processes which take place in tourism industry and in other industries of the economy related to tourism, of state and public management, and other processes of business activity.
  • To develop students’ skills of scientific research, analytical thinking, innovative thinking and creativity, communication skills, which will let the graduates become creative personalities and successfully enter the Latvian and global labour markets.
  • To promote the development of education and research work in the field of tourism business management while strengthening the competitiveness of Latvian higher education internationally.

The main aim of the study programme is to prepare modern specialists − information system analysts, experts in programming, who could work in various fields of science and practice on the basis of comprehensive knowledge of information systems and technologies.

A. Business Administration

Major objectives to achieve the aim of the study programme:

  • To provide students deep theoretical knowledge in the fields of economics, management and communication, ensuring competitive interdisciplinary and complex approach to the interpretation of the obtained results;
  • To develop students’ skills of scientific research work, providing an opportunity to participate in the national and international research projects;
  • To develop students’ skills of analytical innovative thinking, creativity and professional communication, to form creative personality of graduates, which contributes to their success at the Latvian and global labour markets, both in public and private sectors;
  • To prepare graduates for doctoral studies.

Graduates of the study programme demonstrate the following learning outcomes:

  • Ability to understand and analyse the processes taking place in the economic and social environment in Latvia and globally, the tendencies in the political and regional development of entrepreneurship, the trends and prospects of market development, competitive situation and possible actions of competitors;
  • Ability to compare and contrast various theoretical and practical approaches to management, and to apply these approaches to the solution of economic and managerial problems;
  • Ability to analyse and apply modern innovative theory, practice and political aspects with the aim to implement progressive solutions and methods in the work of a company and in the organization of production and management;
  • Ability to manage a company, to plan and control its strategic development, to carry out and implement the policy of development and attraction of financial, labour and other resources, which are vital for a company’s operations;
  • Ability to demonstrate understanding and ethical responsibility for possible impact of professional activity on the environment and society;
  • Ability to understand the interests of stakeholders and to find a compromise in order to ensure the strategic development of a company; to dialogue and cooperation with employees, partners, owners and representatives of mass media, governmental and non-governmental institutions;
  • Ability to perform independent research work applying the latest analytical research methodology, and to prepare reports and presentations on the ongoing research.

 

B. Computer Systems

  • Awarded Degree:Master’s Degree in Computer Systems
  • Qualification:System Analyst

Aim of the study programme:

To train professional Masters in Computer Sciences on the basis of extended and comprehensive knowledge of computer systems and technologies with professional qualification System Analyst, who can work in various fields of manufacturing, technologies and science.

3-Doctor’s Degree Study Programme
 A. Business Administration

Doctor’s degree study programme in the field of business administration, which is awarded by the degree of Doctor of Economics (Dr. oec.) provides for further acquisition of theoretical knowledge and research skills preparing the students for independent research activities. The structure and content of the doctor’s degree study programme promotes the acquisition of scientific knowledge, extended skills and competencies to be applied in scientific research.

Currently and in perspective, the mission and role of business administration and Doctors of Business Administration can be performed in the following three areas:

  • First – education and science;
  • Second – entrepreneurship;
  • Third – state government.

Being the highest level of education in business administration and a successive stage of scientific research, all the three areas are interrelated and are the part of the European model. New Doctors of Business Administration are highly required in private and state higher education institutions of Latvia and Europe, in state institutions and private firms, in state administration and nongovernmental organisations.

Entrance examinations for the doctoral programme are professional interviews organised by the Council of the Doctoral Programme. A candidate for the Doctor’s degree shall submit a written substantiation of a selected theme and his or her research programme to the Council of the Doctoral Programme.

The content of the programme comprises of theoretical study courses, in the amount of 40 credit points, as well as research work, which results in elaboration of a promotion thesis in the amount of 120 credit points. A promotion thesis can be elaborated in the following ways: dissertation; set of thematically common scientific publications; monograph.

The doctoral programme full-time studies duration – 4 years, half-time studies duration – 4 years and 10 months.

The program covers a wide range of economics and management courses: business administration, economics of firms, finance management, information systems management, marketing, methodology and researcher methods etc.

DOCTORAL STUDIES ADMISSION

Requirements for prior education

Enrolment in the Doctoral study programme “Business Administration” is available for the persons who have Master’s Degree in Business Administration, Public Management, or Education Management, or professional Master’s Degree in Business Administration, or Master’s Degree in other fields of science if their working experience in the field of entrepreneurship management is not shorter than two years.

    3. Master’s degree Diploma (copy, submit the original);
    4. Copy of a document proving work experience in the field of entrepreneurship (submit the original);
    5. Description of education and professional activities (Europass CV);
    6. Passport copy;
    7. 3 Photographs
    8. Application for the theme of promotional thesis providing the rationale for choosing the research topic and research program. If the alleged supervisor is not involved in the implementation of this Doctoral study programme, his CV should be attached to the application form.

Evaluation of an applicant
The evaluation of an applicant is performed by the Council of Doctoral study programme. During professional interviews the Council of Doctoral study programme evaluates candidate’s application for the theme of promotional thesis and compliance with the requirements of the Doctoral study programme.
